Project journal

It's a project that my friend, Carla Dixon and I have started based on Roben-Marie Smith's 'points of two' project.   We are following along with the same prompts that Roben-Marie and Kira did.  They are two artists that live apart and each created art once a week and posted on their blog about it.  We have thought about renaming it, so the name may change.

The prompt for the first week is 'Fall Colors'.

pumpkins and gourds
hot apple cider
harvest moon
kicking leaves
sweaters and scarves
halloween fun

I made the above journal to put all these weekly creations in.

And now for some silliness....

I'm not really sure who he gets the silliness from...   ;-)

And then the weekend activities....soccer!

turkeys and gingerbread houses

We brought Umple G and Sarah traditional Thanksgiving headwear.
You're a good sport, Sarah, to all our nutiness.  ;-)
Unfortunately...I didn't get any pictures of their pretty table or the amazing food.
Guess I was enjoying it all -- taking it all in.

Let the competition begin!

Sarah and her brother, Matt.

Sarah's folks.  Fun to have some time with her family.

Cody Man taking his work very seriously.

Watch out, Cody Man!!

These teeth are for EATING CANDY!!

Thanksgiving 2011
Thank you Umple G and Sarah for making it such a special day.

A park visit has to have some good swingiin' too.
It's only fair.

a reTREAT...

Jill from Yoga Haven organized a little retreat for 20 amazing women.
She did a wonderful job and it was quite life changing...
We had a great house right on the beach.
The weather was perfect.  Sunny every day.

That's Jill Rose one the left.
Having the time with Kristin (really 2 weekends in a row) was such a treat.
She's an amazing woman.  I am blessed by her friendship.

Good sleep, great food, hard exercise, fresh air,
vino, laughter,
tears and my bestie
make for an amazing time.

some Journalfest love...

My sweet friend, Carla Dixon, in Roxanne Padgett's stenciling class.  Very fun.
We ended up covering books with the fabric we painted.
We then put a few signatures into and ended up with a completed journal.

A couple samples of Roxanne's stenciled fabrics.

My book is the lavender one (center).
It ended up completely different after I painted more on it.  I'll post another photo of it as it turned out...

I set up a little work station in my room and ended up working at night
and in the early morning before the birds get up!  :-)

The view out my window was so awesome.
A rainbow greeted me shortly after I arrived.
I could hear the waves too.

That's a submarine...

The front of Roxanne's book.  I like the eye ball !

On day 2, I took Roxanne's faces class.
I haven't ever really ventured into faces -- too intimidating.
Now, I can't stop drawing faces and have done many of them painted on fabric
and machine stitched on them like crazy.
A really fun process.

Day 3 was with Ingrid Djinkers.  I still haven't finished my book I started in her class.  I enjoyed her and really liked her style, but I guess I don't know how I am going to use the book, so I guess that's why I'm not motivated to finish it...

It was so sad to hear that Journalfest will not be next year or maybe ever again...  :-(
It's amazing how in the last two years my art and style has really grown.
I loved being in that beautiful place with so many talented wonderful women.
It's such a loving and sharing environment.  Happy place.
Hopefully, I will be able to find something else that will help fill and inspire my creative heart.

Remians of the day journal

I recently signed up for an online class - 'Remains of the day journal' by Mary Ann Moss. It is made with a fabric cover and the pages are made from scraps of paper and from security envelopes.
